Who are you?
My name is Catherine Cantieri, and I've somehow managed to straddle the left-brain and right-brain worlds. From 1989 to 2008, I worked in some form of communications: writing, editing, graphic design, production art, marketing, etc. But all that time, I was also organizing everything I could at every job I had.
(I've also written a novel, kept a pop culture blog for a couple years, reviewed movies, played a dozen or so musical instruments, completely redecorated a house and dressed a pair of cats. All of which took a fair amount of creativity, dedication and painkillers.)
I started Sorted after several years of figuring out how to combine my love of organizing with my growing interest in business (I'm in a 3-year MBA program) and my experiences with creativity. I took the Paper Tiger Authorized Consultant training from legendary organizer Barbara Hemphill and embraced that program with a few tweaks for creative types.
I believe that disorganization isn't anything to be ashamed of... but it's not much to be proud of, either. It's just not helping you do what you want to do. And what I want to do? Is help you do what you want to do. So I believe in making the journey personal, rewarding and fun.
What do you do?
You know how people who work in creative fields believe they can't get organized or that getting organized will stifle their creativity? Well, I show them how to create an environment that helps them do their best work so they have a space and a system that inspires and nurtures their creativity. And that helps them be more creative and more productive -- and grow their businesses.
If you're reading this, there's a strong chance that the "they" in that paragraph above sounds a bit like you.
And while we're on the topic of pronouns, a lot of the descriptions of Sorted services use the word "we." That doesn't refer to a horde of minions I have working for me; it refers to you and me, working together. When you get Sorted, we:
- Talk about your vision for your space and your work style
- Establish exactly what you want and how you'll know when you've gotten there
- Work together to meet your goal
- Keep talking about how the changes are working and what might need to be tweaked
I don't descend from above with a one-size-fits-all approach to your work and your style; we collaborate to create an environment that supports you in all your individuality. As my mentor Barbara Hemphill likes to say, "Organizing is an art." Getting Sorted helps put that art to the service of your art.
What do you charge?
The most popular Sorted services are listed here. If you don't see what you're looking for, drop me a line and we'll talk about what would work best for you.
Prices are based on results and benefits,
not on hourly rates. Meeting your goal will probably require a mix of
skills, some of which are more specialized than others. So pricing is
done by the result.
All Sorted services, whether for individuals are groups, are
guaranteed. If the goal you specified during the Productivity Audit
isn't met, you don't pay anything.
Do you do closets?
Not really, no. Some professional organizers do both residential and business organizing. I don't. I specialize in organizing creative workspaces, and while you may believe that your closet falls into that category, it's officially outside my purview.
Of course, I'll gladly organize your home office or the studio you have in the garage because those are your work areas. But the rest of the house is not my specialty.
That's not to say that what you learn in the course of getting Sorted can't be applied to other areas of your life. The principles of a supportive environment can work on a kitchen counter as well as they do on a desktop. But I'll leave it to you to apply those principles outside your workspace.
