Martha Finan's home office

Martha wanted to turn her home office into a sort of research library for her family. She has many brothers and sisters, plus a large extended family, and wanted to organize their letters, photos and other mementos so she could find them easily, and so could other family members.
She knew she liked working with large brown accordion-style folders with elastic cords, so we used them as the basic storage unit for her archives. We reused all of her existing furniture and added two inexpensive shelving units from IKEA. I developed a space plan for Martha, built and rearranged the furniture, and coached her as she went through dozens of boxes, bins and bags.
We also organized her personal files and the materials for her many ongoing projects. The result is this inviting, orderly office and family research center.

“I highly recommend Catherine Cantieri to anyone who needs the expertise of an organizational consultant. My husband recently died, and I was left with the daunting and emotional task of sorting through stacks of personal and financial documents. Catherine developed a paper-management system for me that has allowed me to find what I need when I want it. I have never been this organized nor have I felt the sense of freedom that comes with knowing that I will no longer have to spend hours searching for essential papers.
Thank you, Catherine, for your patience and advice, and for teaching me skills that I will use in the future.”
